“Whiteboards for Costa Rica”

“Whiteboards for Costa Rica” is a program created to help schools in Costa Rica replaces blackboards in the classrooms with whiteboards.  Many teachers in Costa are forced to retire early because of the health problems caused by the chalk they use in the classrooms.  This program aims to raise enough money in order to buy enough whiteboards to replace the blackboards currently in Costa Rican classrooms.  In doing this we can ensure that teachers will be able to provide education to students for a longer period of time. 

“Computer Basics for Costa Ricans”

We wish to create a program in which we can hold night classes that teach all of the computer basics necessary in today’s world.  Microsoft Office programs, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint will be taught to adults, as well as Internet navigation, E-mail (and attachments), in order for them to be able to learn how a computer can help them with everyday needs.  From creating budgets, to sending communications, to keeping track of what their children are doing on the Internet, to obtaining a better job, Costa Ricans will become empowered by learning today’s technology and how it can help them.
