Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

Welcome to FUNDADEICO!

What does our LOGO mean?

The Shield represents protection and a cover from danger.

The Banner shows the pride of the foundation and proudly presents the initials FUNDADEICO which means…..

The Water represents the peaceful and deep connection that Fundación Amistad has with the people, community, and country of Costa Rica.

The principle piece of the logo is the Guanacaste tree, the national tree of Costa Rica.  This tree has a strong and robust trunk, a broadly dispersed canopy of branches and an amazing beauty that is distinctly recognizable. “Guanacaste” means “ear tree”, after the fact that the tree produces small seedpods that look like ears. This illustrates Fundación Amistad’s attention to what the community needs, listening to what the people need. The tree also produces a strong water resistant wood that, much like Fundación Amistad is very easy to work with. Fundación Amistad aids communities and people in need much like how the bark of the Guanacaste tree can be used as a cold medicine or how the sap can be used to alleviate bronchitis. This tree is a symbol of strength and growth. Most importantly this tree represents the pride of Costa Rican identity.

The Fisherman symbolizes that Fundación Amistad is not a “band-aid” solution that gives a man a fish to feed him for a day, but rather, it provides a strong solution by providing education and by figuratively teaching a man to fish to feed him for a life time.
